Just a rant
Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 02:27 amWhat is it about being a girl gamer that makes guys act like jerks? Seriously. I know that a girl gamer is rare, but just because I am a female doesn't mean that I am suddenly fair game and OMG wanting to cyber-date you. ...That is sooo not why I play. I play to have fun, *not* to look for a date and meet people. Point of fact, I am happily in a relationship right now, and *not* looking.
Don't get me wrong, I like meeting new people, and my guildies are the best ever, but yeah... Every now and then, some random person comes along and just really rubs me the wrong way, or starts flirting like crazy, and then yeah...all I wanna do is block them and go somewhere to cool down.
I got a help request today that I replied to, and the person whispered me asking more questions. (He was only level 31 and definitely new to the game.) But yeah, soon idle questions and chatting, turned to flirting and him asking for my real name--which I won't give in game unless I've known you for a while. My guildies know it (and most only recently), but I trust them. Some random person I've only been talking to for ten minutes? Yeah, no. I told him to call me 'Kitty' and left it at that.
He finally went away and left me alone, but that trend seems to happen a lot when other players realize that I'm OMG female, that it just gets really annoying anymore.
Also on that note, my guildies are awesome. My guild leader offered to go beat 'em up for bothering me when I ranted in the guild chat. Not that I couldn't go after him with Harmony (or Lyric really, since he was so low), but it was a good feeling no less. I'm so glad to be in TBS. :)
